The Comeback

After a multi-year absence, The Dance Extravaganza made its anticipated return to the Big Island, bringing together local dance talent, community energy, and an audience ready to celebrate movement and music for our 50th Anniversary. An amazing award was presented by U.S. House of Representatives Hawaii to the BIDC honoring our commitment to the community. The event featured a vibrant mix of dance styles—floorwork, hip-hop, hula, fusion and so much more that reflected both local island culture and contemporary urban trends. Local dancers alongside neighbor island 'ohana stepped up to the plate, showing both technical skill and crowd-pleasing charisma.

UH Hilo Performing Arts was filled with enthusiastic spectators, from longtime dance fans to newcomers discovering the event for the first time. The energy was high and carried a magic through the air as the audience watched in awe and amazement.

We'd like to give a special thanks to all people involved in the show from the dancers, choreographers, tech team as well as our BIDC members and donors. Your hard work and support have helped keep the art of dance alive and thriving on the Big Island. Mahalo!

We would also to thank the Hawaii Tribune Herald for their article featuring the Dance Extravaganza, which you can read here.

This show was one for the books. Here's a short synapsis below.
